Method 1 — VLC Media Player (Free)

The quickest way. VLC is free, open-source, and pre-trusted by macOS.

Step 1 — Download & Install VLC

Go to videolan.org/vlc, click "Download VLC", and open the .dmg. Drag VLC to your Applications folder.

macOS may show a security prompt — click "Open" in System Settings → Privacy & Security to allow it.

Step 2 — Open Network Stream

Launch VLC, then click File → Open Network… (or press ⌘N). A dialog will appear asking for a URL.

Step 3 — Paste Your M3U URL

Copy the M3U playlist URL from your WatchIPTV welcome email and paste it into the URL field. Click Open.

VLC will load all channels. This may take 10–20 seconds depending on your playlist size.

Step 4 — Browse Channels

Open the View → Playlist panel to browse all channels. Double-click any channel to start watching immediately.

Method 2 — IPTV Smarters Pro (Recommended)

Better UI, TV guide (EPG), catch-up, and series support. Available on the Mac App Store.

Step 1 — Install IPTV Smarters Pro

Open the Mac App Store, search "IPTV Smarters Pro", and install it. It's free to download.

Step 2 — Add Your Playlist

Open the app and tap Add User. Choose Load Your Playlist or File/URL, then paste your M3U URL and enter a name (e.g., "WatchIPTV").

Step 3 — Start Watching

Your channels, movies, and series will load automatically. Use the Live TV tab to browse by category or search for specific channels.

The EPG (TV Guide) loads automatically with channel logos and programme schedules.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to resolve them quickly.

VLC says "your input can't be opened"

Double-check the M3U URL — copy it fresh from your email. Make sure there are no extra spaces or line breaks in the URL.

Buffering or stuttering during playback

In VLC go to VLC → Preferences → Input/Codecs and increase the network caching value to 2000ms. Using a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi will also significantly improve stability.

App blocked by Gatekeeper

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click "Open Anyway" next to the blocked app. This only needs to be done once.

No EPG / TV guide data

In IPTV Smarters, go to Settings → Update EPG. EPG data may take a few minutes to load on first launch. Make sure your internet connection is active during the sync.
